Cycling holidays and motorbike tours starting from Cascina La Commenda

Dear cyclists and bikers, this post is for you! Did you know that Cascina La Commenda is right between Maritime Alps, Langhe hills and Liguria? And we have a parking and a workshop for your bikes and motorbikes?

If you look at the map of Cuneo and its county, you will see the Alps at the West, the Langhe hills at the East, Liguria at the South, Cascina la Commenda right in the middle. Peveragno is very central and ideal for exploring the area. If you are traveling both by bike or by motorbike, Cascina la Commenda will be the starting point for many day-trips on the most known mountain passes, among the Unesco hills of Langhe, or at the seaside.

Maritime Alps: the tour of the 3 passes

Let’s start westwards. The peaks on the horizon are countless. Ride up the Stura valley and get ready for a breathtaking tour. After Vinadio and its fortress, you will meet majestic rocks and hairpins up to the Maddalena pass (1996 m above sea level), where you can stop and take a picture of the beautiful lake. Then you will cross the French border and reach Jausiers, where you will follow the Col de la Bonette, famous for being one of the highest paved roads of the Alps (2802 m above sea level). We bet you will stop at every corner to take pictures and enjoy the view! Take your time on the pass, breathe the air and, once you come back, ride down to Saint Etienne de Tinée and, once you arrive in Isola, climb up to the Col de la Lombarde (2350 m above sea level). This wild pass will bring you back in Italy and is just near another famous place in the Alps: the Sant’Anna sanctuary, the highest in Europe, at 2035 m above sea level. From the Sanctuary you will clearly see the road that leads you back to the “civilized world”. Tip: make a stop in one of the many typical restaurant in the Stura valley for some crouzet (a local handmade pasta) or agnello sambucano, a local breed of lamb that is also an ingredient of the local cuisine. The ideal time of the year for this trip is from may to september.

Langhe and Roero hills

Let’s move eastwards and reach the romantic Langhe and Roero hills. Colorful vineyards, peaks and troughs roads leading to lovely villages, breathtaking views on the Unesco landscapes: many good reasons for a bike or motorbike ride. Step back in time in places like Barolo, Monforte, Novello, Serralunga…Not to mention restaurants and wine cellars in every village, so why not making a gourmand stop? The ideal time of the year for a trip here is the autumn.

Liguria: the Via Aurelia (Aurelian Way)

The Western Liguria is at just one-hour ride from Cascina La Commenda. Enjoy a ride among the cliffs that plunge into the sea and have fun on the many curves of the Aurelian Way, the ancient Roman road that flanks the sea. Our guests love riding in Liguria, both for the sea, the beaches and the villages. The Via Aurelia is perfect for every season.

Cascina la Commenda is ready to welcome guests who travel by bike and motorbike: we have a safe parking and we the workshop is almost ready. And of course our comfortable rooms, traditional breakfast and, or those who book it, a genuine dinner to enjoy the typical cuisine of the territories you have explored during the day. We are waiting for you!
